Normally I wouldn’t pair these mules with my raw denim jeans, but some recent inspiration has me trying out items in my wardrobe with a fresh perspective. It’s not an everyday occurrence that I accrue fresh inspiration from a specific person, but right now, I’m on a bit of a Gilda Ambrosio wave. I love how effortlessly she mixes her favourite items in a way thats all her own. The last person to catch my eye with their phenomenal sense of self and creative vision was Nep Sidhu (I WILL own this vest one day if it kills me). The only thing I enjoy more than pulling inspiration from places, spaces and objects around me is finding other like minded women that are comfortable in their own skin and play by their own rules.
It makes my heart flutter when I hear talk of whimsical concepts for the future of fashion. When I heard Ambrosio (interview here) mention the concept of owing personalized 3D printers that allowed you to upload a pattern and print the shoe you’ve been pinning for, or the dress you’re dying to own my heart was instantly won over.
How amazing would that be?
I once saw a teacup that inspired me so much I sketched a small collection of dresses based on it’s shape and delicate ornate details. Imagine if I could print it at home and wear it that same night? (I might have to dig through the archives and see if I can find them…..)
Stuff dreams are made of bruh.
Here’s to all the women doing shit their own way, on their own terms. Keep doing you baes (what is the plural of ‘bae’..?), I hope one day our journeys intersect.
